BioliSME II is a Collaborative Project for demonstration, validation and preliminary promotion of a commercial prototype speedy system for sampling and detecting Listeria monocytogenes.

This project builds on the success of BioliSME project, which resulted in the development of innovative sampling and detecting technologies for rapid and selective detection of Listeria monocytogenes on surfaces, improving currently available methodologies for controlling the presence of this pathogen in food industries.

During this project, functional prototypes will be constructed to validate the technology developed against current and standard Listeria monocytogenes control methods and to demonstrate its performance to potential end users in agri-food industries.

BioliSME II involves 6 partners from 4 EU countries, combining their expertise in microbiology and electro-optics research, engineering, food safety and hygiene control.

This project is funded by the European Commission under the 7th Framework Programme.

A meeting of participants in the BioliSME II project was held on 17th and 18th October in Gandia (Valencia), hosted by Betelgeux. The project Consortium partners met to kick off the recently approved project and to initiate its activities.
